The local director of Professional Chaplains Association nonprofit held a seminar at the Church of Scientology of the Valley last week to help chaplains deal with the devastation of drugs. They are faced all to often with families torn apart by a loved one’s addiction—or worse—with the tragedy of overdose deaths.
“They were kept in solitary, harassed and annoyed until they would do anything asked of them to get them out; then they were given these drugs and would become like robots.”

In the first of a series of interfaith programs hosted by the Church of Scientology Los Angeles, religious leaders representing five faiths discussed their basic beliefs and their work in the community.
Many people actually know members of our church, and when they hear things that are negative, it makes them curious.
Effective with youth and adults, these materials are used by community groups, schools and professionals. The Truth About Drugs program includes a complete drug education kit with curriculum, online courses as well as the feature-length documentary and brief public service announcements that dispel the pro-drug lies people are told about drugs.
My first glimpse of a different possibility came when a college religion class had us visit various congregations. I witnessed my first female religious leader—a rabbi at a large Reform synagogue a few miles from my school.
I remember those times pretty well, because my church was one of the targets, and my daughter received one of the anthrax threat letters that they sent to our church—complete with loose white powder enclosed.
